Local Community Information:
Just a few miles north of downtown Dallas, you will find a beautiful enclave comprised of two municipalities ~ the Town of Highland Park and the City of University Park. Sharing a border, the Park Cities, which boasts some of the most affluent neighborhoods in North Texas, is mostly served by the highly rated Highland Park Independent School District. Tree lined streets reveal luxurious estates and stately homes framed by manicured gardens, along with a varied mix of newer homes and impressive duplexes. Locals take great pride in the many idyllic parks in this community. You will often see them strolling along Turtle Creek or snapping photos at Lakeside Park. When they’re not catching Friday Night Lights at one of the Scots’ high school football games, they’re enjoying a movie at the quaint Village Theatre or spending some downtime at the upscale Highland Park Village – the first self-contained shopping center in America.
A few miles away, the picturesque Snider Plaza offers an impressive collection of unique stores and the much beloved, family-owned Kuby’s Sausage House that opened in 1961. Across the way, the now centenerian Southern Methodist University lends a vibrant feel with students, locals, and tourists alike flocking to tour the George W. Bush Presidential Library or to view the highly acclaimed Spanish art collection at SMU’s Meadows Museum. With so much to offer, locals like to say this enclave feels a little more like a modern-day version of Mayberry planted in the middle of a major Metropolitan area.
